Connectivity for

Ground Source Heat Pumps

RuralTech-WHG-Ground Source Heat-Units-1
April 2021

RuralTech has successfully provided broadband connectivity for new GeoCube Ground Source Heat pumps at W.H. Gittins & Sons at Wykey Farm in Shropshire.   Working in association with IPT Technology Ltd, the company that supplies the GeoCube heat pump units, RuralTech installed a dedicated 20Mbps download and upload broadband connection for the control panel of the unit, using a secure configured business-grade DrayTek Vigor 2862 router and armoured outdoor CAT6 cable.  This has allowed both W.H. Gittins & Sons and IPT to remotely monitor and manage the ground source heat installation on a 24-hour basis.

GeoCube is a British-manufactured ground source heat pump system that uses the latest refrigeration technology to absorb heat from the ground to provide sustainable heating and cooling.  Each unit can deliver four times the heat output for every kilowatt of electricity used to power it.

Ground source heat pump systems have been used to provide sustainable energy to homes and commercial buildings for over 60 years. With the technology qualifying under the Government’s Renewable Heat Incentive (RHI) scheme, they also offer an attractive return on investment.
